Bitacora is the WordPress theme this blog is using. I have a love and hate relationship with it.
When time permits I plan to start writing a review on what I like and don’t like about it on this page. – UPDATE – I have started writing pros and cons. This page should be considered in draft mode. I update it when something comes to mind to add.
Pros:
- WORKS WITH DARK READER (SORT OF) – Dark Reader is a browser extension that turns websites into “dark mode”. The Bitacora theme works ok when using it for reading your site, however not so great when editing your site.
Cons:
- NOT AS WIDE AS I WOULD LIKE – I prefer blog templates that take up at least 75% of on-screen width in a browser up to 17.3 inches. I wish this theme had a wider width in browsers. It’s almost too narrow for my liking. I did figure out that the width can be changed, but on WordPress.com requires upgrading to the Premium plan. That plan is $100 a year, and so I will not be making any changes that require a hosting plan above the free option since this site is a burner blog. It’s nice however to know that can be done if I ever change my mind and want to try it.
Unofficial Bitacora WordPress Theme Club:
Listed below are other blogs I have found that are using the new Bitacora WordPress Blog Theme, the same theme I am using for this website.
Disclaimer: By adding links to these sites below, I am not giving any endorsement or recommendation whatsoever regarding their content. I am simply listing these sites to see how they may customize the Bitacora theme to use for their own platform.
I’ve only come across one site so far using the Bitacora theme. So the hunt is on for more.
Notes:
Original column widths: Main column – 64.41, and sidebar 35.59.
