  • Zero Halloween

Today my blog is 52 days old. A few days ago was Halloween 2026. I didn’t spend a penny for the holiday. No candy and no decorations were bought. I think this is the first year that I skipped Halloween entirely due to prices on things. I will normally at least buy 1 or 2 bags of candy for myself to eat through the month, but the prices for candy has gotten outrageous. I won’t even buy it on sale now after the Halloween holiday. I know I’m not the only one. Videos on YouTube are showing people talking about the prices and how they didn’t buy anything either. $30 for a bag of candy? LOL get out of here. I hope retailers and manufacturers lose a lot of money for their shenanigans. The economy since Biden was elected in 2020 has been teaching me all the things that I don’t need to buy, especially in more recent months. It’s not just Halloween this year that I didn’t buy candy. For awhile over the last few years, up until about 6 months ago, I was buying at least one bag of chocolate candy each week. Then I stopped because of the prices. I just skip the candy isle now. I have also stopped buying fast food so much as I’ve mentioned before (I think), and I’ve cut down a lot on buying soda. I stopped buying chips so much as well, and buy microwave popcorn instead. My money is more important to me than my hunger for junk food, although I’m still getting my fair share in cakes and sugar cookies LOL. To celebrate not allowing myself to get ripped off on Halloween candy, I’m gonna go deposit $$$ in my savings and call the holiday a success for my future. I wonder if this year might have broken me from Halloween spending? Halloween has always been my favorite holiday out of them all because it is fun. These prices are not fun though. I know I’m not telling anyone anything they don’t already know about that.

  • The Exorcist

What’s a book or movie that genuinely scared you?

That 1970s movie, The Exorcist, got me. For years after I saw it on TV (didn’t see it in the theater) it made me cringe. I won’t watch it as an adult now. Funny thing though is the 2nd one was funny to me,and I saw that one in the theater when it came out. Something about that first film though is freaky as hell, and I ain’t the one!
