Blackeye Peas For Breakfast

I just sat down with a bowl of Margaret Holmes brand Seasoned Blackeyed Peas. I put salt & pepper, plus sprinkled on top, a mix of pretzels and crackers that I turned into sand in the food processor a week or so ago, and keep stored in an empty juice bottle. I know, weird, maybe, but that’s just me lol. I discovered that crushing crackers in the food processor like that, and storing them in a bottle makes it super simple to have them on hand to pour in soups, chili, beans, or whatever. You don’t have to crush your crackers in your hand and deal with the crumbs all over the place, and sticking to your fingers. The flavor can be changed up by adding other things like snack mix, pretzels, cheese balls, Doritos, or anything like that, plus maybe even some seasonings like red pepper flakes if you like a little fire in the mix. The cracker mix can be easily stored and carried in a lunch bag to have on hand whenever you want to mix in crackers in your food. You just have to be mindful to use your crumbs before they start going stale, but they store for a long time in a plastic bottle. I have a box of Cheesy Taco flavor Cheese-It crackers (my favorite flavor of that product) waiting to be crushed up for my next cracker mix. I think I’m going to throw in some Chex Mix Bold flavor to that mix as well whenever the time comes to make a new batch. I like the way the crushed crackers absorb a lot of the juice from my blackeye peas. It just makes it easier to eat, and adds some great flavor.
