Although for the most part, I am presently treating IGYCRAZY as a burner blog, I am trying to make the most out of this Bitacora theme. Who knows, maybe some day in the future, depending on how things turn out, this blog might become an establishment with higher value right? Today I constructed a new logo in Affinity Photo using one of my newest selfies transformed into digital art using Painnt Android app, circle cropped, with text. I made some height adjustments in the header and footer sections of the template. I’m actually shocked WordPress.com is allowing that to be done, considering how they are nickel and diming everyone for everything these days. I tried to change font size in the settings yesterday, and a $100 payment was demanded for the Premium plan if I wanted that to be displayed on this site. Forget that! Y’all out there visiting can use the old browser keyboard trick (CTRL or CMD – / + and 0 to reset) if the fonts are too small for your reading comfort, or buy me a coffee so that I can start raising the money to pay for site hosting, which would enable me to add enhancements to this site, and get a custom domain for it.
I generated some digital camouflage banner stock on Dezgo to be used for blog graphics. I will use them to create post banners (aka featured images). I’m using camouflage patterns to commemorate my time in the U.S. Army when I was younger. Normally I use 1200 X 675 pixel size images for my featured images, but on this blog, I’m changing things up and use 1200 X 338 pixels (half the height).. I’ve already consulted with Perplexity AI to find out if it will work, and it should. I just have to make sure any text or logo is sized appropriately to work as problem-free with social media and other areas (like the WordPress.com ecosystem) for display since they will get cropped when those platforms show my posts. So that is something I need to work on, but I look forward to learning how to make it work. I won’t know if it’s working in the primary area of concern, which for me is in the WordPress.com Reader ecosystem, and I won’t know until tomorrow or sometime soon. On the blog so far, I like the way these images are looking. They look like banners rather than large featured images. In regards to these banners, future updates to this blog may include color coded camo banners for each category. I think that would be fun.
I am about to start turning the top page menu out. I’m going to be creating pages for all sorts of things. I want to see how this template will look if there are 20 or more links in the page menu. Other updates to come will be filling out the sidebar with the appropriate category links, archive links, a blog calendar, and a tag cloud. I know a lot of people think the WordPress calendar widget is useless, but it’s actually useful as it can show your progress if you are trying to keep up with daily updates to your blog, and having a calendar ready to view at all times is never a bad thing in my opinion.
