  • Chill But Busy Sunday Site Building And EDM Music Listening

I’m having a great Sunday today. I hope everyone out there who stops by is having a great Sunday today as well wherever you are. The weather is hot in Southeast Alabama today, but beautiful, and I’m not going to complain because Autumn and Winter is right around the corner, and those are not my favorite months of the year at all. My afternoon and evening is being spent getting some CRAYY site building done. I’m also enjoying listening to some great EDM music on the DI.FM EDM Hits Channel. Today is the first in awhile that I actually feel motivated to work and do something productive, and not just be productive because I have to. Those of you who know, know that there is a difference in those two things. Sometime this afternoon or tonight I hope to start posting some Earthcam screenshots from my collection.

  • I wish I had stopped Moving To Different Websites And Blogs So Much

What’s one thing you wish you had started doing earlier in life?

I got on the Internet in 1998 with a device called WebTV, and my nose has been glued to a screen ever since. That’s nearly 30 years. In that time, I have started and abandoned countless websites and blogs but somehow always ended up at another domain because another “great idea”. I am getting older now. I am hoping that SURF MAN and CRAYY might finally be the website and blog I stick with. I currently have a bunch of stagant sites and domains in my WordPress platform inventory. I took a look a day and collected a list of 107 WordPress free sites, plus whatever .com and .co custom domains I own. That’s too many! I’ve been hoarding them since I got on WordPress (with my account this site is on – but I have other accounts). Some of these go back to 2012, possibly earlier. I am going to try and make it a focus activity during 2027 to either go back, and try to put some of the sites to use, or delete them out. I guess this may be indicative in some way of how my brain works, or maybe I’ve just been an extremely lazy blog and website owner with no actual clear direction. Or maybe it was all for fun, and I just thought it was serious. Who knows? Anyway I would like to pass on some advice to younger people out there in your 20s or so that are interested in getting into blogging, make sure you write all of your blog content offline, and save it to your personal notes for future reference, and keep your notes organized by date. Then if you do move around to another site, you can take your content with you. I wish I had a record of all my stuff going back to 1998. We live and we learn.

  • It Seems Like I Stock Up Just So That I Can Lose Things

What the hell? I lost my rubber tip stylus last night. I don’t know how. I didn’t go anywhere with it, that I know of. Some time not too long ago, I stocked up on a bunch (more than 20 or 30) sets of MEKO brand rubber tip stylus pens with the small rubber tips, for use with my phones and tablets, especially for my phones. I love the S-Pen that Samsung includes with their Ultra phones, but often I find them quirky to use, or they don’t register too great on the screen, and they become awkward or tiresome to grip and work with. I pulled out my MEKO stylus from my eyeglasses case, which has become a carrier not only for my eyeglasses, but my stylus, and a flash drive (if I don’t forget my flash drive), so that I could work on my Cross-Stitch World picture. Apparently I laid it down, or dropped it, and never saw it again. Maybe I’ll find it tonight somewhere at my work office. So I needed to go dig out another stylus from my storage room to keep with me. I went in my storage room this morning, and I couldn’t find them. I know they are in a box somewhere. Fortunately I had one in my filing box, so I grabbed that one. It bugs me that I can’t find that stash of pens though, but truthfully I didn’t put much effort into moving boxes around, so it’s my fault all the way around for losing the thing, and not putting much effort into finding another one. I’ll go look another time. Anyway, I’m spending a little time watching Earthcam, and working on a Cross-Stitch World picture for a little while, and then I have to go try and catch a nap. – UPDATE – 9:27 AM – I went on Ebay and ordered 25 more stylus pens.

  • It’s Snoopy And Woodstock For Me

If you could pick any fictional animal to be your lifelong companion (like a Pokémon or fantasy pet), what would it be?

I had to think about it for awhile this morning because there are so many great fictional cartoon pets to choose from. I thought about the mouse in Tom and Jerry. Then I thought about Garfield the cat. But I’m going with Snoopy and his fluttering friend, the little yellow bird, Woodstock from the Peanuts comics and cartoons. I always enjoyed the holiday Charlie Brown shows and the comic strips growing up.

  • FAFO Friday Without My Flash Drive

I FAFO’d myself tonight. I left my workhorse flash drive plugged in on my home office computer. Now I can’t access a lot of my notes at my other office. This also means I can’t do anything that requires saving pictures or videos tonight. So I am limited on what I can do online regarding blogging, except for that which I can write in UpNote and save to the cloud, or post directly to my website with tags to mark content for collecting later. It’s not a total loss. I can always find something to do that grows my projects. I do have my Top DJ Mixes (formerly Trance Podcasts) flash drive with me, so I’m going to spend some time catching up on downloading the ASOT podcasts (A State Of Trance). I have the first 725 out of 1200+ collected, and I have 31GB left on my flash drive to work with tonight. This could be a great time to break out my MP3 player and listen to some of those shows. I have the first 25 of those on my MP3 player, and I’m up to the 6th show. I of course will collect the X and Google trends tonight to be published in Surf Man at some point, and maybe work on some of my site pages. There are always old posts on Facebook I can remove and stick in my cloud notes (I don’t hoard posts on Facebook forever like some people do – especially text only posts).

  • I Would Be Me But A Richer Version

If you had to switch lives with a fictional character for a week, who would you choose?

The question didn’t say you have to choose an actual fictional character. So I’m making up that suddenly I’m never going to have to worry about money, and I live in a nice apartment, always a good running vehicle, and groceries, and whatever other food, and necessities I may need delivered daily. That’s it. I would be the person everybody wants to be in the USA. FINANCIALLY SECURE.

  • Daft Punk Goes Medieval In Courseval’s Bardcore Cover

French bardcore group Courseval has recast Daft Punk’s atmospheric 2001 Discovery track “Veridis Quo” as a medieval-style performance that exchanges its electronic pulse and synthesizer textures for woodwinds, lute-led instrumentation, organic strings, and a stately chamber-music feel. The arrangement preserves the song’s memorable, shadowy melodic character while imagining how it might have sounded centuries before electronic dance music, an approach well suited to “Veridis Quo” because the original already carries dark keyboard tones reminiscent of a haunted organ. Courseval, which specializes in transporting contemporary songs into a historical musical setting, previously adapted songs by Chappell Roan, Gloria Gaynor, Harry Styles, and Rihanna, but its version of the French electronic duo’s work offers an especially fitting national and stylistic connection. Dressed in period attire, the musicians filmed the performance at Château de Martinvast, a historic Normandy estate and public garden in the Cotentin region, adding a castle-like visual setting to a cover that turns a Daft Punk classic into a cinematic folk-era anthem.

  • This Week’s Cross-Platform Book Best Sellers

Book Riot’s September 17, 2026 roundup combines rankings from The New York Times, Amazon Charts, Publishers Weekly, USA Today, and Indie Bestsellers to identify the books showing the broadest sales momentum across major U.S. lists. Allen Levi’s Theo of Golden, Matt Dinniman’s Dungeon Crawler Carl, and Kathryn Stockett’s The Calamity Club appeared on all five tracked lists, while Rachel Gillig’s gothic romantasy sequel The Knave and the Moon and Caro Claire Burke’s Yesteryear landed on four. Among the notable three-list titles were Man Booker Prize winner Marlon James’s The Disappearers, a novel set against the repercussions of a gay man’s killing in 1980s Jamaica, MrBeast and James Patterson’s collaborative release The Most Dangerous Games, political reporting book Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, and Hayden Panettiere’s memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, which returned to bestseller lists after her death in August. The article also notes a continuing lack of diversity in the aggregated lists, particularly their disproportionate representation of white authors, while highlighting alternative independent and small-press selections including Monika Kim’s The Eyes Are the Best Part, Paul Yoon’s Etna, and Ayana Gray’s Hawk & Sparrow.
